As we were working on the generator today, we found out from Jerry, the owner of the hotel next to us, that he knows two guys who are experts in repairing the electrical windings of a generator and he would call them. It turns out that they are from Gonaives, the town that was affected by the hurricanes recently, and they would be heading to Port au Prince the following day to get the wire we need to fix the generator.
I spent the remaining of the day working in the office. As for the evenings, we have been spending most of our time trying to work with candles and flashlights since it gets dark just a little past 6:00PM. It is becoming fairly routine to shower with just a candle, a 5 gallon bucket of water and a cup. It’s amazing to find out what you really need and what you can get by with when it comes down to it. The only really frustrating part is having no light and ending up in bed around 8PM because there is nothing to do without any light.
