This week seemed to go by quickly. Actually, this semester has gone by very fast considering we only have one more full week of classes. It just doesn't seem like I have been here that long. I guess when I look back I have a lot of memories of this place, but I wish the time wouldn't seem to fly by. I think part of it is just the fact that there is so much to do here that you never could really get caught up and therefore time always goes by fast when you are busy. I hope that through being busy I was doing work that will be beneficial and long lasting to the community here.

Sometimes when I think about America and where it is today compared to what it was like in the 20's I notice that it has improved tremendously. I also think back and think about how difficult lives were then and how much work there was to be done and how little leasure there must have been. I think the same is true for a place like Haiti. I do believe that improvements are to be had and that things can turn around, but to get to that point, it will require a lot of hard work for a very long time. I always wonder what it will look like in 50 years or so. Will there be a point of where there is a significant improvement with their homes, their access to food, and the good conveniences of life? I hope so, and to get to that point faster will require hard work and more of it. Hopefully, more schools will be built, education will expand here and improvements will happen much more quickly.

Doug - this is a really good thought and comparison. :) It is sometimes hard to see that things can continue to get better if people put the effort in.
We can't wait to see you in a week and a half!
