12/09/08

I normally show up to my classroom between 6:45 and 7:00AM. Mme. Guerline, my grader, usually shows up shortly after however she did not come in today. Her daughter was ill so she stayed home.

After school I stayed after and a few students showed up to go over some problems they have been having. After about a half hour, one of my students received a call and she said she had to get going to the hospital. I asked her why she had to go and she said she goes often to have a doctor check on her heart. She explained that she has "holes" in her heart and it leaks. She told me that she will eventually have to have a heart transplant. I didn't ask her how she will be able to afford this because I highly doubt that she has health insurance. I don't know what the exact diagnosis is, but in any case, please keep her in your prayers. Her name is Marie Claude.

Since Mme. Guerline wasn't here today I had to stay after my tutoring and grade all of my student's papers which took me until 8:00PM to complete. Though it was a little taxing to do all of this after the day was over, it was nice to be able to spend a little more time to look over my students' papers and get a better feel for how they are doing. Thom was also ill today so it was helpful to not teach 6th grade again and have a little extra time to grade papers. This probably kept me from staying until 9:00PM. After I got home, I spent a little time going over planning for tomorrow and then headed to bed.
