12/04/08

I passed out the graded Algebra tests today and it seems that some of their grades are slipping. It is somewhat expected since the material is getting much more difficult. Though I would expect the grades to decrease slightly there is too much of a split. The good news is that some students who haven't asked for help before have began to stop by my desk after class and said they will start to come after school for tutoring. They said they will start coming this upcoming week so hopefully they don't forget and we can work together to get their grades back up.

One of the frustrating parts of being a teacher is knowing that with more time you could help everyone improve but that you don't have the time to sit down one on one with all of them. The best approach is to take advantage and make the most of that hour when you are in class. This is what I will have to work on and since I have a desire to teach these students, I am sure I will improve with time. I just hope the learning curve to becoming more effective is a brief one.
