100/05/08

It was great to be able to see everyone from my church and to be able to sit with them while they attended our Haitian church service. Especially for those who have not been here before. They seem to enjoy the service so much, even though there is a language barrier.

After church most of the missionaries went on hikes while a few went back to the airport to see if their luggage was in. Whenever groups come in, the checked luggage is always left behind at the small airport since there isn’t enough room for all of it. They usually have it all here the following day, but sometimes it takes a few more days.

Later this evening, we had church again at 5PM. We usually get together again for church so we can have an English service since most of us don’t know enough Creole to understand everything that is being said during the service. This allows us to get together in fellowship and also provides a time where we will all be together to share stories, thoughts, etc. Though we are all living so close together, we often can get so busy with school that we may go days without seeing/talking to someone other than your brief “hello”. After our church service, we always go back to Roger and Norma’s for a snack. Norma usually has something really good made up and then on top of that we always have a house/apartment which gets assigned to bring a snack for the week. I like when we are on the list for the snack because my roommate, Jonny, makes an awesome peach cobbler.
